DO POLITICIANS HAVE THE ANSWERS?

The problems we face as a nation are quite obvious. With the government shut down now for several weeks and no end in sight for a resolution to the problem. With our southern border unsecured against illegal criminal aliens and hard drugs. With many thousands of unborn infants being murdered every year. With half our marriages ending in divorce. With both political parties strongly opposing each other and no negotiations planned.

With all of the above, I urge us to consider the wisdom of God’s Word in the following text:  Do not put your trust in princes, (presidents) in mortal men, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.   Psalm 146:3-4.   Little comment is necessary. Political leaders cannot save. Political leaders are mortal and will certainly pass away. Political leaders have plans that will end it nothing. Failure is obvious in what ever way we look at politicians.

In the same Psalm we read, Blessed is he whose help is in the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them– the Lord, who remains faithful forever.   God is not a Democrat or Republican, He is the sovereign Lord of the universe!  He knows how to bring good out of evil and over-rule failing politicians!  Not all politicians are evil but they have obvious limitations and we must pray for them. See I Timothy 2:1-2 “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” Amen.
